It’s been quite some time since we got a new Mario Kart game. Mario Kart 8 was the latest main series game, and it came out on the Wii U in 2014. A remastered version called Mario Kart 8 Deluxe came out in 2017, but this was mostly just the same game. Because of its popularity, you would think Nintendo would be eager to pump out another Mario Kart game. According to this game analyst, Nintendo might be doing just that.

Gameindustry.biz posted an article detailing many famed game analysts’ predictions for 2022. The article also details what Analysts’ predictions for 2021 came true and which ones didn’t. One of the analysts featured in the article is Dr. Serkan Toto. He is the CEO of the Japanese video game industry consultancy company Kantan Games. “I am aware Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is still selling very well on the Nintendo Switch, but Mario Kart 9 is in active development (and comes with a new twist) and Nintendo could tease it this year,” Toto said.

He doesn’t give any details to back up this information or about what the ‘new twist’ is. All we have to go on is his credibility and our own speculation. On that note, take this prediction with a grain of salt. Serkan Toto does have a back catalog of predictions that helps prove his credibility though. He accurately predicted that app stores would receive structural changes and that the PS5 would surpass the Xbox Series X in sales.

Serkan Toto continued with his Nintendo predictions saying we will likely see a new mobile game from the company in 2022. “On mobile, Nintendo has been very silent since Mario Kart Tour’s launch in 2019, but I think 2022 is when we will see an established IP arriving on smart devices again,” said Toto.

Nintendo is kicking off the new year with a massive sale encompassing many first-party and third-party games. The sale started earlier today and will last until January 16th. Nintendo posted what games will be receiving a lower price on their website. They have a section for all games, and they also have separate sections for third-party games. Finally, Nintendo also listed DLC and bundles for games that are currently on sale.

For Switch exclusive games, Nintendo has a lot to offer this year. Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics, Arms and Super Mario Maker 2 are just a few of the Switch exclusive games on sale right now. Super Mario Maker 2 and Arms as well as Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze and Mario Tennis Aces are all on for $41.99USD from their usual $59.99USD. Some DLC and bundles listed in this section are Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker Special Episode Bundle and Just Dance 2022 Deluxe Edition.

Bethesda has a slew of games a part of the New Years Sale too, with a big focus on DOOM. DOOM, DOOM (1993), DOOM 3, DOOM 64 and DOOM II (Classic) are all on sale for half off. It’s not just DOOM that’s on sale though. Three Wolfenstein games are all about 70% off, and Quake is 33% off as well. The DLC and Bundles section for Bethesda includes the DOOM Eternal DLC and Bundles and DOOM Slayers Collection.

Finally, Nintendo is offering a New Year sale to a ton of Bandai Namco games. Each game is going for roughly 75% off, and some of them are still regularly being sold at retail price ($59.99 USD/$79.99CAD). Dragon Ball Fighterz, Jump Force and One Piece Pirate Warriors 4 are all going for prices ranging from about $10USD-$15USD. There are seven bundles and DLCs listed in the Bundles and DLC section for Bandai Namco. Jump Force Characters Pass 2 and One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 Deluxe Edition are two of these bundles.

Sucker Punch’s Japanese action-adventure game Ghost of Tsushima took the world by storm when it was announced back in 2017. Gamers have frequently been talking about the game since then for a number of reasons. Ghost of Tsushima was one of the most talked-about titles at E3, it was nominated for Game of the Year and now, it’s sold over 8 million copies.

Ghost of Tsushima is an action-adventure game developed by Sucker Punch Productions for the PS4 and later for the PS5. It takes place in the Kamakura period during the first Mongol invasion against Japan. You play as Jin Sakai, a samurai from a noble family who was part of a brutal battle against the Mongol army that resulted in the death of many samurai.

As Jin grows to understand just how ruthless the Mongols are, he begins to question the samurai’s way of thinking. He slowly but surely denounces the samurai code and takes on the moniker of “The Ghost”. The Ghost is a ruthless killer who targets Mongolian camps, killing the Mongols inside with sneak attacks and unconventional weaponry. This goes against everything Jin has been taught, but it’s also crucial if he wants to defeat the Mongol empire.

It’s no surprise that Ghost of Tsushima has sold over 8 million copies. The game was nominated for eight awards at the 2020 Game Awards and won two of them. Some of the awards it was nominated for are Game of the Year, Best Narrative and Best Art Direction. It won the awards for Best Art direction and Player’s Voice.

With all of the hype around Ghost of Tsushima, including a movie adaptation and possible sequel, it’s likely that there are many more milestones to come in the near future.

Apex Legends is coming out with another event titled the Dark Depths Event. The Dark Depths Event is filled with tons of content including new underwater-themed cosmetics, an arenas map and flash events. The event will come out on January 11th, 2022.

Players can purchase limited-time Dark Depths Packs for 400 Apex Coins. The packs are guaranteed to contain at least one new event item that isn’t a duplicate of an item you already own. The event items will be available indefinitely in case you miss out.

Also coming with this event is a brand new arenas map titled Habitat 4. Set on the same archipelago as some of the other arenas maps, this island map is a breeding ground for leviathans, the giant creatures seen roaming around in the background of some maps. The layout of the island features tons of branching paths and verticle landscapes for players to utilize during a match.

EA posted a blog on their website detailing how players can interact with the tropical island’s geography. “the enclosed space of the Cave offers a sense of security and protection. Fights are focused on mid-range and close combat, allowing for a variety of strategies and fast pushes on timely shield breaks. Sacrificing cover and controlling the Cave’s center will give you a leg up, as it overlooks the map’s mid-field and one of the airdrops. If things get too spicy, Legends can use the Cave’s waterslide as a fast getaway or to quickly move towards the Nest.”

Finally, players can unlock Dark Depths cosmetic items through the all-new Flash Events. Flash Events are one week-long mini battle passes that offer 9 rewards per week. There are currently three Flash Events listed on EA’s website. The first one will last from January 11th to the 18th. The second will last from the 18th to the 25th. Finally, the last Flash Event will last from January 25th to February first.

Daniel Mullins’ gruesome deck builder Inscryption has passed 1,000,000 digital copies sold. The game only came out on October 19th of last year and in that time has been in the news for a number of things.

Inscryption is an indie roguelite with horror elements all throughout it. You play as a character trapped in a cabin who is forced to play a card game with their captor. If you lose the game, you die and start over. You lose all of your progress, but some cards and other things stay with you after death. The game’s creator, Daniel Mullins, is well known for making strange indie titles, and Inscryption is no different.

Devolver Digital made the announcement via Twitter earlier today. They did it the same way they announced hitting 100,000 sales. The stoat, a card you get at the beginning of the game that can talk to you, gives a message to the player making a reference to a common phrase the card says.

The stoat wants you to know that Inscryption has crossed one million copies sold.

Inscryption is currently only available for digital download on PC. The only popular services you can get the game from are Steam and the Epic Games Store. Despite this and the game only being a few months old, Inscryption still managed to make a splash in the gaming scene.

It’s really no surprise Inscryption has been doing so well sales-wise. It was up for a few awards at the 2021 Game Awards and was even praised by Masahiro Sakurai. Inscryption was nominated for best indie game and best sim/strategy game at last year’s Game Awards. Although it didn’t win in either category, the game was still represented in some capacity. Even Super Smash Brothers creator Masahiro Sakurai is a fan citing Inscryption as the game that left the biggest impression on him in 2021.

The next DLC in Far Cry 6’s trilogy of villains is coming out on January 11th. This time around, players will venture into the psyche of the titular Far Cry 4 villain Pagan Min.

About half a year ago during E3, Ubisoft announced that Far Cry 6 is getting a season pass. The pass is an homage to the series’ history as it puts the player in the shoes, and the minds, of some of Far Cry’s most iconic villains. The season pass includes an original DLC for Far Cry 3’s Vaas Montenegro, Far Cry 4’s Pagan Min and Far Cry 5’s Joseph Seed. It also includes Far Cry 3’s stand-alone DLC Blood Dragon.

Each DLC has the player control its respective villain as they explore the mind of that villain. The Vaas DLC titled Vaas: Insanity came out in November of last year and shows us what we can expect with the upcoming Pagan DLC. Vaas: Insanity is integrated directly into the source material’s story. It takes place just after the final encounter between Vaas and Jason in Fary Cry 3. Vaas is trapped inside his own mind and must complete a series of tasks given to him by his sister Citra in order to escape.

The gameplay is fairly different as it has roguelike elements integrated into it. The game uses a currency system called cash that is given to the player after they complete various tasks. If the player dies, they lose all of their cash and have to start over again. The gameplay also features a trait system akin to what you’d see in an RPG. The player can also upgrade various traits that do various things like increasing Vaas’ health and abilities.

According to Ubisoft’s press release on gamepress.com, The Pagan Min DLC titled Pagan: Control will follow a similar design. “Players will embody Pagan Min, the iconic villain from Far Cry® 4, in a brand-new experience inspired by the roguelite genre taking place in the depths of the villain’s troubled psyche.”

Behaviour Interactive is bringing a lot of quality of life changes to Dead by Daylight with their upcoming Mid-Chapter update. They made the announcement through a developer update on the Dead by Daylight website earlier this month.

The developer update is coming out in two parts and for good reason. Behaviour has a lot of content planned for the game. Some of it is likely coming out soon, and some of it is still being developed. Regardless, there is a ton of content to cover, so this article will be focusing exclusively on the first part.

According to the developer update, smaller update sizes, skill-based matchmaking improvements and button/interaction changes are all coming to Dead by Daylight. The team at behaviour seems to be focusing on improving the new matchmaking system and general player experience in the coming future.

Both the Steam and console versions of the game are getting improved update sizes. For Steam specifically, future updates will be more compressed and should download about 50% faster. This will also cut back about 18GB of disc space too. For both console and PC players, Behaviour is changing how their update system works by altering the chunks of data required for updates. This will improve download sizes by about 200%.

Behaviour Interactive is also improving skill-based matchmaking (SSMB for short). They only added SSMB into Dead by Daylight a few months ago. Because of this, they haven’t had a lot of time to fine-tune it. They plan to fix this in the next few updates by changing the backfill mechanic so that it provides quality over speed when replacing a survivor who leaves the match prematurely and by improving player rank decay so players can ease back into the game after taking an extended break.

Finally, Behaviour Interactive is playing around with different button layouts and mechanics. Players will soon be able to turn on a feature that lets them toggle between actions instead of holding down a button or key. For instance, doing a generator requires you to hold down one button and hit skill checks with another. With this change, players now have the option to tap the button and let go instead of holding it down. This may not seem like a big change, but it will save on wear and tear on your devices, and it frees up a hand so you can eat or drink something.

PlayStation Plus is a subscription service that offers a ton of unique rewards and benefits including free games every month. Players can download three predetermined games every month at 100% off. Once the month is up, the three games return to their normal price, and three new games take their place.

Sony announced the three free games for January via the PlayStation website earlier today. The three games are Persona 5 Strikers, Dirt 5 and Deep Rock Galactic. These titles are available to anyone with a PS Plus subscription on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.

Persona 5 Strikers is a spinoff game of the greater Persona series, and the Shin Megami Tensei series as well. The game is specifically a spinoff of Persona 5 as it features many of the same characters. The game is a hack an action RPG with heavy hack and slash elements. The game’s plot revolves around fighting shadows and changing people’s hearts, much like Persona 5’s plot. It’s the go-to game for fans who want more out of Persona 5.

Dirt 5 is an off-road racing game that came out in November of 2020. The game features race tracks from all over the world that pit the player against harsh elements. For example, players can race on New York’s frozen East River. You can also find the voices of Troy Baker and Nolan North in Dirt 5 as well.

Deep Rock Galactic is a cooperative, sci-fi first-person with a heavy emphasis on exploration and looting. Players control a team of space dwarves as they scour the mines of different planets for materials to upgrade their ship. Players can play with their friends online and explore, mine and loot together, or they can go it alone.

All of these games can be purchased for free during the month of January by anyone with a PS Plus subscription.

As Pokémon Legends: Arceus’ release date approaches, leakers have been hard at work trying to find the game’s biggest secrets. A recent leak, however, has many fans worried about the next installment in the franchise.

A well-known leaker on Twitter who goes by Riddler Khu recently revealed some news about a new mechanic in Pokémon Legends: Arceus that has many fans disappointed.

According to the leak, pokémon abilities and held items are not going to be present in Legends Arceus. Both of these things are crucial parts of Pokémon battles. It’s understandable that many fans are upset about the possible feature (or in this case, lack thereof).

This wouldn’t be the first time Game Freak omits these mechanics. Pokémon Let’s Go Eevee and Let’s Go Pikachu didn’t have abilities or held items either. They also didn’t have breeding, another core feature rumored to be missing in Legends Arceus. These games were more of a retelling than a staple in the series, so most fans were ok with them not having the mechanics.

As always, take this leak with a grain of salt. The developers have said nothing on the matter so far. Despite this, fans are still upset, and understandably so. These mechanics have been in the games for a very long time. Held items made their debut in generation II, which came out in 1999. Pokémon Abilities made theirs in generation III, which came out in 2002.

It’s also worth noting that Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, the most recent main series games that are currently out, implemented abilities and held items into their gameplay quite well.

Gym leaders and members of the Elite Four all implement held items into their battle strategies. This is something we’ve never seen NPCs do before in a pokémon game. Removing these features from Pokémon Legends: Arceus simply seems like a step in the wrong direction to many long-time fans.

The Epic Games Store 15 days of one free game per day has finally come to an end, and it’s going out with a bang. The entire Tomb Raider Trilogy, not just one game, is currently free on the Epic Games Store, and it’s going to remain free until January 6th.

Epic Games surprised gamers this holiday season with a slew of free games. From December 16th to December 30th, Epic Games has had one game go on sale at 100% off for 24 hours. Each game would go on sale from 11:00 am to 11:00 am the next day. Some of the games that were a part of the sale are quite popular too. Loop Hero, Control and Prey are some examples.

Right at the end, Epic Games decided to go all out with three games. The three games make up this trilogy of the modern Tomb Raider games. The three games currently on sale are Tomb Raider Game of the Year Edition, Shadow of the Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition and Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration.

Tomb Raider is a beloved franchise dating back to the 1990s. The first game titled Tomb Raider was developed by Core Design and came out in 1996. It stemmed a few sequels and even a movie starring Angelina Jolie. The trilogy rebooted in 2013 with the returning name Tomb Raider. Because of this reboot, Crystal Dynamics (Tomb Raider’s new development studio) decide to keep the franchise going.

Just like in the original games, you play as Laura Croft, an adventurous archeologist. She often explores ruins full of danger and mystery with some sort of supernatural element to them. The newer trilogy keeps true to the original game’s story and characters, but its gameplay is a lot more fine-tuned.

Epic Games is doing a fun giveaway in celebration of the holiday season. They’re giving away 1 free game a day for 15 days. Epic Games keeps each game a mystery until the day it’s available.

Well, they tried to at least.

The giveaway started on December 6th with Shenmue III being the first runner-up. The game was free from 11 am to 11 am of the next day, with each game after it following suit. It wasn’t long before leakers started trying to find out what games were going to be a part of the giveaway.

The leaks spread mostly through Reddit and Twitter. They haven’t been completely accurate, but they have got a few things right as well. Pathfinder: Kingmaker was predicted for December 24th, and it’s free today for example.

Some leaks have predicted that Prey will be the next game a part of the giveaway. The leaks have proven themselves to be at least somewhat trustworthy, so it may be worth checking out.

The games that have come and gone so far are Shenmue 3, Neon Abyss, Remnant: From the Ashes, The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, Loop Hero, Second Extinction, Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden and Vampyre.

Free games with Gold have been a staple for Xbox since the Xbox 360. Back then, it was only two free games. Nonetheless, it was still an appreciated addition to the other benefits of having a gold membership.

When Xbox 360 games were finally made backward compatible on the Xbox One a few years ago, Microsoft added 2 free Xbox 360 games every month to the already available 2 free Xbox One games. They’ve held true to this formula for many years with little to no repeats.

January’s upcoming free games have been revealed on the Xbox Youtube channel. The games are NeuroVoider, Aground, Radiant Silvergun and Space Invader Infinity Gene.

Inscryption has caught the attention of many gamers for its unique blend of card-based RPG mechanics and unsettling story. The game was such a success, the developer decided to reward the Inscryption fanbase with a free mod.

The mod, referred to as Kaycee’s Mod, is currently available for free on Steam. It’s named after a character whose name makes an appearance from time to time in Inscryption. Don’t worry, this article is completely spoiler-free.

For those who haven’t played it yet, Inscryption is a horror, roguelite indie game developed by Daniel Mullins Games. The game puts the player in a log cabin where a mysterious figure is holding them captive. The figure is shrouded in darkness, where only his eyes, and occasionally his hands, are visible to the player. The player must indulge their captor by playing a card game where the two pit woodland creatures against each other in battle akin to deck-building games like Hearthstone. Between games, The player moves along a map with forking paths that offer different kinds of rewards and challenges. They also may walk around the cabin and solve puzzles that produce different rewards.

Inscryption is far more than a simple card game, however. Some of the cards can speak to you giving you hints on how to beat some of the boss fights and trying to assist you in finding a way out. This game will suck you in with its compelling story and addicting gameplay, the latter being the inspiration for the mod.

Perhaps the only complaint players have about Inscryption is they can’t get enough of its gameplay. That’s where Kaycee’s Mod comes in. Daniel Mullins posted on Steam that fans sent him countless requests for an endless mode of Inscryption. Kaycee’s Mod is just that, an endless bout of challenges that only ends when the player dies. All of the core gameplay mechanics are still present with only the story elements missing. The mod is currently in beta, which players can access for free through Steam.

Rare announced on Twitter earlier today that Sea of Thieves hit the five-million digital copies sold mark on Steam. In celebration of this milestone, Rare is giving away free rewards to all players on every platform.

Sea of Thieves came out in 2018 and was exclusive to the Xbox Store and the Windows Store. The game was also made available for Game Pass on its launch. The game only came to Steam in June of last year, making the milestone that much more impressive.

Sea of Thieves recently hit the 25 million player milestone across all platforms. It seems like it’s been a good year for the game. To honor these two milestones, Rare is giving away the All Together emote for free to players on every platform. All you have to do is log on once at any time from December 22nd to December 31st, and the emote is yours forever!

In the wake of their recent success, Rare made a statement on the Sea of Thieves website assuring fans that more content is in the works. The game just recently got an update adding a number of new items, cosmetics and new mechanics. It also has a holiday event that’s currently going on. Sea of Thieves has been bustling lately, and it doesn’t look like Rare is going to step off the gas pedal any time soon.

Blizzard’s popular online multiplayer game Overwatch is currently free to play. The trial will last until January 2nd.

Overwatch is a team-based, multiplayer first-person shooter. The primary game modes, Quick Play and Competetive, are played with two teams of six. Each team is made up of two tanks, two damage and two supports. The goal is to eliminate the enemy team and either capture or defend the point. The game is filled with different game modes, playable characters and maps.

If you have never played Overwatch, this is the perfect time to give it a try, and there are a few reasons why. The first reason is that Overwatch historically hasn’t had that many free trials. The game has had a few free trials in the past, but they were typically very spaced out from each other, and they usually only last for a few days over a weekend. This trial is going to last for over a week. That’s plenty of time to get your fill and figure out if you enjoy the game enough to buy it later.

Another reason this trial is a good time to hop on the Overwatch bandwagon is because of the game’s upcoming sequel. Blizzard has yet to give an official release date for Overwatch 2, but we do know the game is going to come out at some point next year. The next season of The Overwatch League is going to be played in Overwatch 2 after all. That’s a pretty good sign that the game is likely coming to shelves in the coming year.

Finally, this trial includes everything the retail version has. Every character, game mode, cosmetic and everything else will be available to you. Overwatch is currently going through its Winter Wonderland event too, so there are even more cosmetics than usual right now.

Those Awesome Guys’ titular party game Move or Die is celebrating the holidays with the Act Like It’s Christmas update. The update went live today and will end on January 5th.

Move or Die is a fast-paced 2-4 player party game. Players each control a customizable colored blob that they’ll use to face their friends in an onslaught of high chaos mini-games. Each minigame has a different objective and is completely unique except for one mechanic that every game shares.

Regardless of the current game’s rules, players must constantly keep moving, or else their health bar will quickly deplete and they will die. Moving in the air and jumping don’t count. Players must keep moving on the ground to regenerate their health bars or be eliminated until the next round. The winner scores the most points, second place is next and so on. A player wins the game once they score their 50th point on a minigame they came first in.

Those Awesome Guys made the announcement earlier today via Gamepress.com. The studio added 5 new characters to the game but only detailed a few of them, “Five new characters are making their debut today. Ubisoft announced that Assassin’s Creed: Origins for Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 will be getting a free upgrade. The upgrade will allow the game to run at 60 frames per second on the two consoles.

Assassin’s Creed: Origins is an action-adventure game developed by Ubisoft that tells the story of how the Assassin’s Creed was formed. The game came out in 2017 and is the 10th main series title. It was a major departure from the previous games in the series. Unlike in those games where combat was basic and focused more on stealth, Origins took a more aggressive approach. The game has more aspects from RPG games than ever before with faster-paced combat and skill trees that unlock new weapons and abilities.

Ubisoft made the announcement on Twitter in celebration of Assassin’s Creed Day. The post was a thank you to their fans for being a part of the community. The bottom of the tweet reads “We are also looking into adding 60FPS support for Assassin’s Creed Origins, so stay tuned!”

Assassin’s Creed: Vallhala has taken most of Ubisoft’s recent attention. The game is the most recent title in the series and still has more DLCs to come out. Despite this, Ubisoft still wanted to breathe some life into their older games. CD Projekt Red just released a holiday update for their popular online PvP game GWENT: The Witcher Card Game. The update not only added a ton of holiday cosmetics but also added a new event-exclusive currency system too.

GWENT: The Witcher Card Game is an online collectible card game where players duel each other with carefully crafted decks. You collect cards from decks that belong to 6 different factions. Each faction has its own playstyle, strengths and weaknesses. You play cards that increase and/or decrease various stats on the two rows on your side of the board, the melee row and the ranged row. Once a player wins two of the three rounds, they win the game. The player with the highest total strength on their side of the board wins the round. GWENT is a spinoff of the card game with the same name found in The Witcher game and book series.

The annual Winter Event added a new currency system called pinecones. This new currency can be used to buy event-limited cosmetics such as cardbacks and titles. Pinecones are only available during the event’s run time and can be used through a dedicated page in the Reward Book. Players can obtain pinecones by playing the game every day, completing daily quests and winning matches in Standard, Seasonal and Draft game modes.

Players who own the Geralt Leader skin will also have access to additional content during the event. The content in question is two special contracts that each have a unique reward. A red hat and candy cane trinket for Geralt will be rewarded to the player upon completing these contracts.

Finally, GWENT: The Witcher Card Game is also having a sale on its in-game store. Players can purchase the Midwinter Bundle and Frozen Bundle on sale.

Loop Hero is on sale for 100% off on the Epic Games Store right now. It is 1 of 15 games that are going to be temporarily free on the platform.

Epic Games is celebrating the holidays by giving away free games. Every day for 15 days a game will be free to purchase. However, there is a catch. Each game will only be free for the span of 24 hours. On top of this, there is no information on what games will be free later on.  Shoppers will have to log on every day and see for themselves what games are available. Loop Hero is the 5th game to be free this year.

Loop Hero is an indie RPG developed by Four Quarters. An evil lich has destroyed reality and it’s up to you to restore it. The main character travels on a pre-generated path that loops back on itself. Defeating enemies grants you building tiles that let you restore reality one piece at a time. Collect resources and expand the world in this engaging indie title.

The sale started a few days ago and will end on January 6th. The games that have come and gone are Shenmue 3, Neon Abyss, Remnant: From the Ashes and The Vanishing of Ethan Carter. Loop Hero will remain free until 11:00 am Eastern Time tomorrow.

Behaviour Interactive just released a list of statistics for their asymmetrical horror game Dead by Daylight. This is the first time the company has ever released this kind of data for the game.

Dead by Daylight has had a really busy end of the year. A few months ago, Dead by Daylight launched on the Epic Games Store, and it’s been on sale a few times since then too. The game also just got a brand new killer and survivor in the recent Portrait of a Murder update. The update not only added these two characters but also added a new map. Finally, the game is currently going through a holiday-themed event as well.

All of these factors definitely played into Dead by Daylight’s recent burst in popularity, but it’s not the reason why Behaviour released the data. The main reason has to do with the recent update. Portrait of a Murder focuses heavily on Chilean culture. Behaviour wanted to honor this by releasing figures that are mostly themed around their Latin American player base.

The announcement was made earlier today via Gamepress.com. Here are the figures directly from the website.

• 48 million: New record of Dead by Daylight players across all platforms globally
• 3 million: Approximate number of players from Spanish-speaking countries in Latin America.
• 2 million: New record-breaking daily average players, all platforms included
• 760,000: Number of players from Mexico.
• 230,000: Number of players from Chile.
• 100,000: number of concurrent users who played Dead by Daylight on the Epic Games Store over the first weekend the game was available.
• 217: Number of days required to create Portrait of a Murder (which equals to a total of 22 years of work if one person were to create the Chapter alone!)
• 100: Number of developers who worked on the development of Portrait of a Murder.
• 7: Number of creative steps required for iterating the gameplay mechanics as well as the visuals of each character before they’re released.

Sabotage Productions is releasing a brand new title called Sea of Stars. The title will be available on Steam and the Nintendo Switch and is coming out next year during the holiday season.

Sea of Stars is an RPG reminiscent of RPGs from the ’80s and ’90s. The game is being developed by Sabotage Productions, the indie studio behind The Messenger. Sea of Stars is in the same universe as The Messenger, but the stories are different. You do not need to play The Messenger to understand and enjoy Sea of Stars.

The game was announced during Nintendo’s Indie World Showcase that streamed live on Youtube a few days ago. Though it’s not a Nintendo exclusive, the company still dedicated a good chunk of time to show off the game during the live stream. Sea of Stars is also being promoted on Nintendo’s website.

The website reads, “A story rich adventure. Dozens of original characters and story arcs will take you on a captivating journey. Sometimes epic, sometimes silly, and other times emotional, Sea of Stars does its RPG duty of exploring classic themes of adventure and friendship, while also being chock-full of the unexpected twists and events you’d expect from a Sabotage production.”

The game’s mechanics are very reminiscent of old-school RPGs while also having a modern polish to them. Just like its predecessor, Sea of Stars uses a turn-based battle system that involves magic and damage types. Unlike the games that came before it though, Sea of Stars doesn’t have random encounters or excessive grinding.

Based on what’s been shown during the Indie Showcase, it looks like this game is a passionate love letter to the RPGs of the 1980s and 1990s. Are you excited for Sea of Stars? Let us know in the comments.

Atlus’ beloved JRPG Persona 4 is rumored to get a Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 port. The rumors state that the Midnight Channel Collection, which includes Persona 4, Persona 4 Golden and Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, is coming to the systems.

Persona 4 is a Japanese role-playing game mixed with a high school social simulator. You control a team of teenagers who discover a strange channel that only appears at midnight when it’s raining out. When the main character watches this channel, he finds out that he has the ability to enter the tv. His friends have the same ability as well, and together they slowly discover more and more secrets about their abilities and how they can use them to solve a series of murders happening in their town.

The rumors started after Twitter user @ScrambledFaz posted information revealing a tab for preordering the collection on Atlus’ website. The user found out that If you add “v2” at the end of the link to the Persona 4 Arena Ultimax website, an option to pre-order the Midnight Channel Collection for the Switch and PS4 revealed itself. You can’t actually pre-order it yet as there is only a coming soon tab available at the moment.

This rumor is likely true as Atlus has already ported a few persona titles to different platforms. Last year marked the first time a main series Persona title made its way to another platform. Atlus ported Persona 4 Golden to steam in June of 2020. Atlus also announced at The Game Awards that Persona 4 Arena Ultimax is getting a PS4, Switch and PC port. The main series games and most of their spinoffs have always been PlayStation exclusives.

With all of the recent ports and Shin Megami Tensei V (the greater series that Persona belongs to) being a Switch exclusive shows that Atlus is no longer loyal to just Sony.

Back 4 Blood just got a free update that added tons of new content to the game and a seasonal event as well. Turtle Rock Studios released the free update earlier today.

Back 4 Blood is a zombie survival multiplayer game with a heavy emphasis on co-op. Join your friends and slaughter wave after wave of zombies and progress through the campaign. The game was developed by Turtle Rock Studios, the same developers behind Back 4 Blood’s spiritual predecessor Left 4 Dead.

The update made quite a few tweaks and additions to the game and also added limited-time holiday-themed in-game content. The campaign can now be enjoyed in offline mode with the same features as online mode. Players in offline mode can now earn supply points, achievements and other unlockables. Progress can also be transferred from offline mode to online mode.

The update also added rotating supply lines called Roving Merchants. These supply lines give the player more rewards to spend supply points on. The rewards are time-sensitive and come in and out of rotation. There is a holiday-themed version called 34th Street Roving Merchant. Players can earn holiday-themed cosmetics such as character skins, weapon skins, emblems and sprays.

In celebration of the holiday season, Back 4 Blood has gotten a holiday overhaul. Fort Hope is covered in holiday-themed decorations. On top of this, Doc and Holly got character-specific accessories. Doc got a snow hat and Holly got a reindeer antlers headband.

The update also had a large number of bug fixes, tweaks and quality of life changes. The quality of life changes mostly focused on things like hitboxes, movement speed and player collisions. Turtle Rock Studios also made tons of balancing changes to cards effects and weapon damage.

Far Cry 6 just got an update that didn’t really surprise anyone. The update added a mission starring Danny Trejo that Ubisoft accidentally added to the game about a month ago before promptly taking it down. This time around, Ubisoft has officially released the mission along with a few other things.

The mission is a crossover with famous Hollywood actor Danny Trejo. Trejo plays himself for this role as he travels to Yara to feed tacos to the hungry. The army attempts to put a stop to Trejo’s operation, starting a feud between the two. The player teams up with Trejo helping him fend off hordes of soldiers in true over-the-top Far Cry ridiculousness.

Ubisoft accidentally released the crossover mission earlier this year. The premature release was likely due to a programming error. Players were only able to start the first part of the Danny Trejo mission before it would abruptly end. Because of this, most of the content in the mission was never revealed. Ubisoft promptly removed the mission from the game until its proper release.

Ubisoft made the announcement via Twitter earlier today, “Team up and fight with Danny Trejo solo or in co-op with friends in a free crossover mission and new special operation, Malagua, and get a free reward!” The Danny Trejo mission is available now for free for players who own a copy of Far Cry 6 on any platform.

A few more things were included in the update as well. Players can expect to receive a free reward in the form of a motorcycle with a built-in gun. The update also fixed a few loading screen and game crashing bugs.

Pokémon Legends Arceus is almost here, and Nintendo hasn’t been holding back on building up the hype for it. A trailer came out earlier today showing a new system that will be present in the game.

The Official Pokémon Youtube Channel posted a trailer that details some of the NPCs players can expect to encounter in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. The main focus of the trailer was to specifically show off the NPCs that will be running the new clan system.

There seams to be two clans, the Diamond Clan and the Pearl Clan. The leader of the Diamond Clan is a man named Adaman and the leader of the Pearl Clan is a woman named Irida. According to the Pokémon Legends: Arceus website, Adaman’s partner pokémon is a lefeon and Irida’s is a Glaceon. The two characters have differing views and often butt heads. Neither the trailer nor the website details what the clans’ roles are in the story. All we know is they exist and are an obvious reference to Dialga (Diamond) and Palkia (Pearl).

Speaking of Diamond and Pearl, the website also mentions a post-game mission for players who have a save file of either Pokémon Brilliant Diamond or Pokémon Shinning Pearl. The mission involves the legendary Pokémon Darkrai and will allow players to catch it. Players will also have access to the Modern Team Galactic Set, a cosmetic that resembles the clothing worn by Team Galactic’s admins in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shinning Pearl.

Game Freak is also doing this with the legendary pokémon Shaymin but with a different set of games. If players own a copy of Pokémon Sword and Shield, they will receive a similar mission to the Darkrai one. Both Shaymin and Darkrai made their first appearance in the original Diamond and Pearl games.
