Nothing. Nothing happens when you fly into a planet, moon, or sun in Starfield. Your spaceship will get stuck 9990 meters above the surface of the planet and you will keep flying infinitely into an invisible barrier. The screen will look pixelated because you are so close to the planet and the game was designed for viewing them from afar.

You can’t land on planets or moons by flying into them.

As for suns, for one they are too far away to fly there, and the same thing happens where you just keep flying infinitely and never actually reach the surface of the sun.

So unfortunately, it’s quite anticlimatic and just a waste of time to try. If you still want to try it, the quickest method would be going to Sol > Luna (moon of earth). Since moons are smaller you spawn closer to them. Get a fast ship, like the one you obtain from completing the Freestar Ranger’s questline. And then just keep flying straight towards the moon. By activating the scanner it will show the distance to the surface. It will still take like half an hour but the distance from where you spawn to the moon’s surface is much shorter than when you try it with bigger planets.

In Starfield, the ability to establish Outposts on planets for resource extraction and personal bases of operation can greatly enhance your gameplay. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to do it:

Step 1: Scouting for Suitable Locations

Begin by free-roaming on a planet and activating the Scanner. On Xbox, use LB, and on PC, press F. Wander the planet’s terrain until you spot the “Outpost” prompt at the bottom of your screen, transitioning from gray to white.

Step 2: Placing Your Outpost

Once you’ve identified a suitable location, press Xbox: X or PC: R to place your Outpost. It’s important to note that you can only build Outposts in specific areas with nearby Resource Veins. Be mindful not to place Outposts too close to other Points of Interest; consider walking a couple of hundred meters or yards away. Placing an Outpost also unlocks the “Home Sweet Home” Achievement.

Step 3: Establishing Resource Extraction

After setting up your Outpost beacon, the next crucial step is to construct an Extractor over a Resource Vein. Look for areas where the ground is marked in a different color. Keep in mind that each planet offers different types of resources. Additionally, build a Power Resource to provide a minimum of 5 Power for the Extractor to function effectively. Connect a Resource Container to the Extractor to store the mined resources. You can periodically check and empty the container. For advanced automation, you can link containers to other structures, creating a seamless production chain. Learn more about setting up Cargo Links for automated resource trading between your Outposts.

Step 4: Researching Advanced Outpost Buildings

To unlock higher-level Outpost Buildings, you’ll need to conduct research at a Research Lab. Refer to our guide on “How to Research New Items” for more information. You can acquire the necessary resources for research either by mining them on planets or by purchasing them from various merchants.

Note: Outpost Limit and Resource Variety

Keep in mind that there is a cap of 8 total Outposts allowed across all planets. Each planet also offers unique resources, so make sure to explore and adapt your Outposts accordingly to optimize your resource extraction operations.

By following these steps and continually expanding your Outposts, you’ll be well on your way to becoming a resource tycoon in Starfield.

In the vast universe of Starfield, understanding how to access your spaceship’s inventory, also known as the Cargo Hold, is essential. While the game might leave you in the dark about it, we’re here to shed light on this crucial feature. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to locate and utilize your Ship Inventory:

Step 1: Board Your Spaceship

Enter your spaceship and make your way to the Pilot Seat. If you’re currently seated in the Pilot Seat, simply hold:

  • Xbox: B
  • PC: E

This will allow you to stand up and proceed to the next step.

Step 2: Navigate to the Cockpit

Once you’re on your feet, head to the Cockpit area of your spaceship.

Step 3: Locate the Ship Inventory Panel

In the Cockpit, carefully examine the walls near the Pilot Seat. One of these walls will feature a panel that you can interact with, granting you access to your ship’s inventory. It’s important to note that the precise location of this panel may vary from one spaceship to another.

Step 4: Access Your Ship Inventory

Once you’ve found the panel, press:

  • Xbox: X
  • PC: R

This action will open your Ship Inventory, enabling you to transfer items between your inventory and the Cargo Hold. To switch between these two compartments, use:

  • Xbox: LB
  • PC: Q

And that’s all there is to it! You can now efficiently manage your ship’s inventory and ensure you’re well-prepared for your interstellar adventures.

Remember that you can enhance your Cargo Hold’s capacity by utilizing Ship Customization services offered by Service Technicians, conveniently located at the landing pads of major cities. Additionally, consider adding Shielded Cargo Holds to minimize the risk of contraband detection by scanners during your travels. Your journey through the stars just got a whole lot more manageable!

In the sprawling universe of Starfield, you may encounter various afflictions resulting from environmental hazards or hostile encounters that inflict affliction damage. These afflictions can have adverse effects on your character, such as increased oxygen consumption. It’s imperative to address afflictions promptly, as untreated afflictions can escalate into more severe symptoms with even greater negative consequences.

Checking Affiliations

When you acquire a new affliction, a brief notification will appear on your screen indicating that you’ve been afflicted. You can also manually check your afflictions in the Character Menu:

  • Xbox: Press the Menu-Button > Y > select “Status Effects.”
  • PC: Press Tab > B > choose “Status Effects.”

Once you’ve identified your afflictions, you can seek out the appropriate medication for treatment.

Curing Afflictions

To alleviate afflictions, access your Inventory and navigate to the “Aid” category. Browse through your food and health items, as some will have descriptions indicating their effectiveness in curing specific afflictions. You can often discover such items as loot from defeated foes or within containers on shelves.

If you don’t possess a suitable item, consider checking with merchants and sales kiosks in major cities. These kiosks are accessible at every significant city’s landing pad. An early game vendor can be found in System: Alpha Centauri > Planet: Jemison > Landing Site: New Atlantis. From the landing pad, proceed straight ahead until you reach an open area with a train station, then turn left and enter “Jemison Mercantile.” Engage in conversation with the merchant inside to explore your options.

Alternatively, you can craft healing items at Pharmaceutical Labs. You’ll encounter one such lab in the basement of “The Lodge” (The Constellation base of operations on Alpha Centauri > Jemison). Upon entering The Lodge, descend the stairs on the right to find crafting machines of various types. The required materials for crafting pharmaceuticals can also be obtained from merchants under the “Resources” category.

Here’s a concise overview of Affliction Curing Medications:

  1. Antibiotic Paste = Treats Burns, Frostbite, Infections
  2. Antibiotics = Treats Infections
  3. Bandages = Treats Contusions, Lacerations, Puncture Wounds
  4. Boosted Injector = Treats Brain Injury, Concussion, Heatstroke, Hernia, Hypothermia, Lung Damage, Poisoning, Radiation Poisoning
  5. Heal Gel = Treats Burns and Frostbite
  6. Heal Paste = Treats Burns and Frostbite
  7. Immobilizer = Treats Dislocated Limb, Fractured Limb, Fractured Skull, Sprain, and Torn Muscle
  8. Injector = Treats Brain Injury, Concussion, Heatstroke, Hernia, Hypothermia, Lung Damage, Poisoning, Radiation Poisoning
  9. Junk Flush = Cures all Addictions
  10. Penicillin X = Treats Infections
  11. Snake Oil = Treats Brain Injury, Concussion, Heatstroke, Hernia, Hypothermia, Lung Damage, Poisoning, Radiation Poisoning

By following these guidelines and proactively addressing afflictions, you’ll ensure that your journey through the cosmos remains as smooth as possible in Starfield.

Unlock the full potential of your spaceship and outposts in Starfield by recruiting skilled crew members. Not only does this enhance your ship’s systems, but it can also bolster your defenses at outposts. Additionally, recruiting a total of 10 crewmates will earn you the coveted “The Family You Choose” Achievement.

What Roles Do Crew Members Play?

Each crew member possesses unique skills that can significantly benefit your endeavors. When assigned to your spaceship, they provide passive bonuses to specific ship systems, making these enhancements particularly valuable during intense spaceship battles. Moreover, crew members can be stationed at outposts to bolster their defense capabilities.

Companions You’ll Meet In the Story

Throughout your journey, you’ll meet seven companions during main story quests. These companions join your crew automatically and include Andreja, Barrett, Heller, Lin, Sam Coe, Sarah Morgan, and Vasco.

Use Credits To Hire New Recruits

You have the opportunity to recruit additional crew members by visiting bars, diners, and pubs in bustling cities. An accessible starting point for recruitment is at System: Alpha Centauri > Planet: Jemison > Landing Site: New Atlantis. From the landing pad, head straight until you reach an open area with a train station. Then, turn left and enter “The Viewport” shop, where you can engage with potential recruits.

While the cost of hiring new crew members may initially seem steep, ranging from 6,500 to 18,000 credits per person, it’s important to note that you’ll accrue substantial credits automatically through main story progression and the completion of the four Faction Questlines. If you find yourself short on credits, consider selling loot to merchants and taking a 48-hour rest in either your ship or lodge to refresh merchant inventories and continue selling items.

After successfully recruiting a crew member, you’ll be prompted to assign them to a specific location. To accommodate more crew members on your ship, you may need to modify your existing ship or invest in a new one, as each ship has a crew limit.

With a well-rounded crew at your side, you’ll be better prepared to tackle the challenges and adventures that await you in the vast expanse of Starfield.

In the immersive world of Starfield, players on the PC version have the unique ability to employ cheats through the Command Console. It’s essential to note that this feature is exclusive to the PC version, and the Xbox console version does not offer access to the Command Console.

Accessing the Command Console

To open the Command Console, follow these steps:

  1. For users with a US English Keyboard, press the “~” key to bring up the Command Console.
  2. For users with keyboards in other languages, the key to access the Command Console may vary. For instance, on a German keyboard, it could be “ö.” If you’re unable to locate the key on your region’s keyboard layout, consider changing your keyboard layout to US English in Windows Settings. You can do this by navigating to “Time & Language” > “Language & Region” > “Preferred languages” > “Add language,” and select “English United States.” You can conveniently switch between keyboard layouts using the CTRL+Shift shortcut or by clicking the language selection in the bottom right of the taskbar, next to the time and speaker icons. Once you’ve switched to the US layout, the key to access the Command Console will typically be located in the top left corner of your keyboard, to the left of the number “1.”

When you’ve correctly followed these steps, the Command Console will appear, allowing you to input text commands in the bottom left section.

To close the Command Console, press the same key that you used to open it.

The Complete Starfield Cheats List

To enable cheats in Starfield, type the following commands in the Command Console. Typing the same command again will disable the cheat. Please note that activating cheats will disable the ability to earn Achievements.

  • tgm = Godmode (infinite ammo, health, oxygen)
  • tai = Turn off all AI processing
  • tcai = Turn off NPC Combat AI (enemies won’t attack you)
  • tcl = Turn off collisions (allows you to pass through all surfaces)
  • tfc = Turn on freeroam camera (fly around with camera view)
  • killall = Eliminate all hostile NPCs in the area
  • player.setlevel 100 = Set Player Level to 100 (replace with your desired level, e.g., player.setlevel 250 for level 250, only level up is allowed)
  • player.additem 0000000F #100000000 = Add 100 Million Credits (adjust the number at the end to specify the quantity of credits you want)

The Crimson Fleet is a notable faction in Starfield, and joining their ranks is a thrilling journey that can lead you to the coveted Rook Meets King Achievement. Below, we outline the steps to become a part of the Crimson Fleet:

Step 1: Join the UC Vanguard

Before you can join the Crimson Fleet, you must first become a member of the UC Vanguard. They will enlist your help for an undercover mission aimed at infiltrating the Crimson Fleet to gather crucial intelligence. For detailed instructions on how to join the UC Vanguard, refer to our guide on “How to Join UC Vanguard.”

Step 2: Complete UC Vanguard Faction Missions

Upon your recruitment into the UC Vanguard, you will automatically receive the first two UC Vanguard Faction Missions: “Supra Et Ultra” and “Grunt Work.” Completing these missions is an essential part of your journey. They help lay the foundation for your undercover mission within the Crimson Fleet.

Step 3: Initiate the Crimson Fleet Faction Mission

After successfully accomplishing the initial UC Vanguard Faction Missions, you will be entrusted with the Crimson Fleet Faction Mission titled “Deep Cover.” This mission will automatically appear in your quest log. Simply track the objectives from there, and the necessary tasks will be marked for you. “Deep Cover” requires you to act as an undercover agent infiltrating the Crimson Fleet, providing valuable information to the UC Vanguard.

Step 4: Conclude the “Rook Meets King” Quest

As a natural continuation of the “Deep Cover” mission, the follow-up quest, “Rook Meets King,” will automatically begin. This pivotal quest will lead you to an encounter with the leader of the Crimson Fleet, marking the culmination of your efforts. Successfully concluding this quest will reward you with the achievement for joining the Crimson Fleet.

Benefits of Joining Crimson Fleet

Joining the Crimson Fleet comes with several advantages:

  • Access to “The Key,” the Crimson Fleet’s space station located in Star System: Kryx. Here, you can sell smuggled contraband that other vendors may refuse.
  • A shift in the Crimson Fleet’s disposition towards you, from hostility to amicability. You can now traverse the Kryx star system without the threat of hostile encounters.
  • Exclusive ship modifications offered by their ship technician, including the Scan Jammer to shield against police scans searching for smuggled Contraband on your vessel.
  • Availability of Crimson Fleet-specific ships for purchase, as well as the option to bring back stolen Crimson Fleet ships to The Key.

Crimson Fleet Questline

To fully immerse yourself in the Crimson Fleet storyline, complete all of their remaining quests. These quests are designed to guide you seamlessly, with marked objectives and a helpful scanner to navigate your path.

  • [UC Vanguard] Supra Et Ultra (Accept this quest when speaking to Commander Tuala during Main Mission 02: The Old Neighborhood in New Atlantis, or track the activity “Speak to Commander Tuala about joining the Vanguard” to complete it later)

Andreja, a captivating Companion in Starfield, can be more than just a trusted ally; she can become your romantic partner and ultimately your spouse. This detailed guide will walk you through all the steps to cultivate a romantic relationship with Andreja, making her your girlfriend, and sealing the union with marriage to achieve the cherished Starcrossed Achievement. Importantly, the gender of your character does not affect these relationships, and you can freely change it at “Enhance” shops located in major cities.

Andreja Relationship Guide

Earning Andreja’s Affection

  • Travel alongside Andreja whenever the opportunity arises.
  • Accumulate Likes from Andreja during dialogues (displayed in the top right corner). She appreciates “sassy/feisty” options (usually the 2nd or 3rd dialogue choice), values strength without unnecessary bloodshed, and dislikes choices driven solely by monetary gain. It’s wise to create a Quicksave before engaging in conversations. If Andreja expresses Dislike, reload the Quicksave and select alternative dialogue options.
  • Avoid attacking civilians or friendly NPCs.
  • Whenever Andreja requests a conversation, oblige and choose supportive responses (usually one of the top two choices).
  • Whenever [FLIRT], [ROMANCE], or [COMMITMENT] options are available, select them during dialogues. These options are presented only during specific conversations.

Completing Andreja’s Relationship Mission

  • After accumulating sufficient Likes and progressing through Andreja’s dialogues, she will offer the Miscellaneous Mission “Divided Loyalties.” Accepting this mission will elevate your relationship status to “Andreja considers you a friend.” This typically occurs after approximately 40 hours of gameplay if you consistently earn Likes. Excessive Dislikes can slow your progress.
  • Complete the mission “Divided Loyalties.”
  • At the conclusion of the mission, when conversing with Andreja back at the lodge, select the 1st dialogue option “[ROMANCE] I’ll always be here for you. I love you,” rather than the “Friendship” option. This step officially makes her your girlfriend.

Proposing Marriage

  • Continue to journey together with Andreja as your active Companion. After 30 to 90 minutes of gameplay, she will initiate another conversation. In this dialogue, choose “[COMMITMENT] I think it’s time we make this official.” Andreja will readily accept your proposal for marriage.
  • Note that marriage cannot occur immediately. Andreja requires some time for preparations, so continue adventuring together.

Initiating the Marriage Quest

  • Maintain Andreja as your active Companion and continue your travels. After 2 to 4 hours of gameplay, Andreja will approach you for another conversation. This marks the beginning of her Marriage Quest, titled “Commitment: Andreja.”
  • Progress through the quest objectives, which eventually lead to Planet Shoza II. There, Andreja will present you with a marriage gift, and you will officially become a married couple. There is no official wedding ceremony; it’s an intimate moment shared between the two of you. The Marriage Gift can be placed in any of your Outposts.
  • Your relationship status will transition to “Andreja considers you a committed partner,” solidifying your union and unlocking the Starcrossed Achievement.

Marriage Perks

While Starfield does not include “Romance Cutscenes,” there are subtle changes to your interactions with your spouse:

  • Your spouse will exhibit increased happiness upon seeing you and engage in more pleasant dialogues.
  • When you sleep in a bed, whether in your lodge or on your ship, Andreja will wake up beside you and share verbal comments about the enjoyable moments you both shared. You can sleep in the bed multiple times to hear all her responses, though there are no explicit scenes.
  • Your spouse will frequently pick up items and offer them to you.

If you ever wish to conclude the marriage, you can do so by conversing with Andreja, discussing the relationship, and choosing to end the Commitment. This will allow you to explore relationships with other Companions.

Sarah Morgan, a captivating Companion in Starfield, can be your romantic partner and ultimately your spouse. This comprehensive guide will walk you through all the steps to cultivate a romantic relationship with Sarah, making her your girlfriend, and sealing the union with marriage to achieve the coveted Starcrossed Achievement. Importantly, the gender of your character does not affect these relationships, and you can freely change it at “Enhance” shops located in major cities.

Sarah Relationship Guide

Earning Sarah’s Affection

  • Travel alongside Sarah whenever the opportunity arises.
  • Accumulate Likes from Sarah during dialogues (displayed in the top right corner). She favors “Nice” options, values diplomacy over violence, and dislikes choices that prioritize money. It’s wise to create a Quicksave before engaging in conversations. If Sarah expresses Dislike, reload the Quicksave and select alternative dialogue options.
  • Avoid attacking civilians or friendly NPCs.
  • Whenever Sarah requests a conversation, oblige and choose supportive responses (usually one of the top two choices).
  • Whenever [FLIRT], [ROMANCE], or [COMMITMENT] options are available, select them during dialogues. These options are presented only during specific conversations.

Completing Sarah’s Relationship Mission

  • After accumulating sufficient Likes and progressing through Sarah’s dialogues, she will offer the Miscellaneous Mission “In Memoriam.” Accepting this mission will elevate your relationship status to “Sarah Morgan considers you a friend.” This typically occurs after approximately 40 hours of gameplay if you consistently earn Likes. Excessive Dislikes can slow your progress.
  • Complete the mission “In Memoriam,” ensuring you convince the young girl to return home with you, which Sarah appreciates.
  • During a conversation with Sarah at the Waterfall at the mission’s conclusion, select the dialogue “[Romance] I’m saying I love you, Sarah. Now and forever,” rather than the “Friendship” option. This step officially makes her your girlfriend, and your relationship status will change to “Sarah Morgan is now your Ally.”

Proposing Marriage

  • Continue to journey together with Sarah as your active Companion. After 30 to 90 minutes of gameplay, she will initiate another conversation. In this dialogue, choose “[COMMITMENT] I’d like to spend our future together, forever.” Sarah will readily accept your proposal for marriage.
  • Note that marriage cannot occur immediately. Sarah requires some time for preparations, so keep adventuring together.

Initiating the Marriage Quest

  • Maintain Sarah as your active Companion and continue your travels. After 2 to 4 hours of gameplay, Sarah will approach you for another conversation. This marks the beginning of her Marriage Quest, titled “Commitment: Sarah Morgan.”
  • Progress through the quest objectives, which eventually lead to a picturesque beach in Paradiso. Here, you will officially wed Sarah. She will present you with a Marriage Gift, which can be placed in any of your Outposts.
  • Your relationship status will transition to “Sarah Morgan considers you a committed partner,” solidifying your union and unlocking the Starcrossed Achievement.

Marriage Perks

While Starfield does not include “Romance Cutscenes,” there are subtle changes to your interactions with your spouse:

  • Your spouse will exhibit increased happiness upon seeing you and engage in more pleasant dialogues.
  • When you sleep in a bed, whether in your lodge or on your ship, Sarah will wake up beside you and share verbal comments about the enjoyable moments you both shared. You can sleep in the bed multiple times to hear all her responses, though there are no explicit scenes.
  • Your spouse will frequently pick up items and offer them to you.

If you ever wish to conclude the marriage, you can do so by conversing with Sarah, discussing the relationship, and opting to end the Commitment. This will allow you to explore relationships with other Companions.

In the vast expanse of Starfield, acquiring and modifying stolen spaceships can be a game-changer. To assist you in this endeavor, we present two distinct methods for acquiring these coveted vessels as you explore the star systems of Starfield.

Investigate Planets for Ship Landing Sites

Sometimes, while freely exploring planets in the open world (excluding cities), you may stumble upon “Ship Landing Sites,” intriguing points of interest. To locate them, utilize your scanner, as they appear randomly. Upon discovery, approach the site, board the parked spaceship, overcome its crew, take the pilot’s seat, and soar into the cosmos. However, ensure that your piloting skill aligns with the ship’s class.

These Ship Landing Sites are randomly generated points of interest. If your luck runs dry, consider exploring another planet, as success here is purely a matter of chance.

It’s worth noting that certain stolen ships can only be docked at the factions they belong to. For example, stolen Crimson Fleet vessels are exclusively welcome at “The Key” (Crimson Fleet Base) if you have allied with their faction, as they are considered hostile in all major cities. Learn more about joining the Crimson Fleet in our guide, “How to Join Crimson Fleet.”

Destroy Engines of Enemy Ships in Combat

Engaging in space battles offers another avenue for acquiring stolen ships. Follow these steps to claim your prize:

Step 1: Start by equipping your ship with the right weapons to target and disable engines effectively. Consult a Ship Service Technician in a major city, like New Atlantis, to install a weapon that deals “Electromagnetic Damage,” denoted as “EM” in the weapon type. Consider the “Spark 750 Suppressor” as a suitable secondary energy weapon for optimal engine damage without risking the ship’s destruction.

Step 2: Hunt for ships in space while avoiding turning friendly forces hostile. Instead of attacking friendly ships guarding city planets, visit Mission Terminals and accept missions that involve tracking down enemy spacecraft. Major cities like System: Cheyenne > Planet: Akila > Landing Site: Akila City or the pub on Sol > Mars > Cydonia offer such missions.

Step 3: Ensure you’re the sole survivor. Destroy all enemy ships except the one you wish to board. The ‘board’ prompt may not appear if other ships remain operational.

Step 4: Focus your firepower on the enemy ship’s engines. Follow these targeting instructions:

  • On Xbox: Activate Scanner with LB > Approach the enemy spaceship > Lock on with A > Press X to open the targeting menu > Target the Engine (ENG) with LEFT/RIGHT > Shoot until all engine health bars turn gray.
  • On PC: Activate Scanner with F > Approach the enemy spaceship > Lock on with R > Press R to open the targeting menu > Target the Engine (ENG) with A/D > Shoot until all engine health bars turn gray.

Step 5: Crucially, do not destroy the ship. Once the engine is damaged, exit the targeting menu (Xbox: B / PC: ESC) and approach the ship until the ‘board’ prompt appears. Initiate boarding by aiming at the ship with the scanner and pressing Xbox: LB > hold X / PC: F > hold R.

Step 6: Conquer the ship’s crew in combat.

Step 7: Take the pilot’s seat, choose to undock from your previous ship, and ensure your piloting skill matches the new ship’s class. Power up the Grav Drive and warp to the nearest city. If the Grav Drive or Engines sustain damage, simply wait a minute in the Pilot Seat for automatic repairs.

Step 8: Congratulations! The stolen ship is now a part of your collection. To make it fully functional, you must register it at a Ship Service Technician on a city’s Landing Pad by paying a fee. Keep in mind that some stolen ships can only dock at the factions they belong to, such as Crimson Fleet ships, which exclusively dock at “The Key” (Crimson Fleet Base) if you’re aligned with their faction. Learn more about joining the Crimson Fleet in our guide, “How to Join Crimson Fleet.
