Set to launch on October 25, this highly anticipated installment takes players to a new setting in the early ’90s, where deception runs rampant and going rogue is the only way to uncover the truth.

Clive had a rough childhood. He was supposed to be the Dominant of the Phoenix, but there was a slight failure to launch in his teens. But, as with most moody teens, he went a bit emo and instead became the Dominant of the dark Eikon, Ifrit.

7) Purah – The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Can you believe Purah is over 125 years old? Looks pretty smokin’ hot for that age. She discovered a de-aging process decades before, and oddly enough, no one in Hyrule seems to be pressing her for more info!

Jill is one of the protagonists in Final Fantasy XVI and the “adopted” sister to Clive Rosfield (you know, the fellow who only ranked 8 on this list). She is a Dominant of Shiva, which gives her ice cold powers and minty fresh breath.

In the ever-expanding realm of ridiculous social media trends, we have now arrived at a point of undeniable absurdity. Take, for instance, the recent phenomenon where people on TikTok are imitating non-player characters (NPCs) from video games.

For those not familiar with the term, NPCs are the background characters in video games, the ones with limited actions and repetitive lines, existing solely to provide context for the main player. They are mere tools in someone else’s narrative, devoid of depth or storyline. However, on TikTok, a growing number of individuals have taken it upon themselves to become these video game automatons.

One such creator is @loczniki, known as Nicki Loczek, who has been acting like a video game character on TikTok for two years now. Her videos consistently garner millions of views, highlighting the bizarre allure of this trend.

More recently, NPC content has surged in popularity, with creators like @pinkydollreal live-streaming as NPCs. These creators recite scripted lines and perform reactions in response to “gifts” purchased by their fans, which manifest on screen as emojis.

The appeal for fans to give these creators diamonds, coins, and other gifts is clear – it’s relatively low-cost entertainment. However, for creators with substantial followings, the profits can be surprisingly substantial, especially when streams stretch on for hours. For example, @glam_with_dee shared that she made $99 in just a two-and-a-half-hour stream.

So, why do people watch NPCs on TikTok? Some, like Nicki Loczek, create humorously absurd videos of themselves pretending to be video game characters in public. Many of these streamers go all out, donning elaborate cosplay costumes to further immerse themselves in the gaming and fantasy aesthetic.

But for others who watch these videos, it’s the sheer absurdity of it all that captivates us. There’s an uncanny feeling in witnessing people reduce themselves to NPCs, reciting lines and performing actions as if they were trapped in a digital loop.

However, what’s perhaps most intriguing about these TikTok NPCs is how they fulfill certain audience expectations. Despite not being authentic people, they exhibit consistency in their actions, have a clear authorial voice, and even maintain a brand identity. In essence, they do precisely what we anticipate they will do, and their reactions are both expected and, remarkably, delivered at the precise times we ask for them.

In a move to create a safer and more inclusive gaming environment, Xbox has announced the introduction of an enforcement strike system set to roll out on August 15. With a commitment to improving the player experience, Xbox aims to ensure that its platform remains a welcoming space for all players while addressing concerns about the impact of repeated enforcements on gameplay.

Striking a Balance Between Fairness and Safety

The forthcoming enforcement strike system seeks to strike a balance between enforcing community standards and providing players with clearer insights into how their actions can impact their gaming privileges. A prevalent query from the player community centered around the consequences of enforcements and how they escalate. Xbox listened to these concerns and is now taking proactive steps to address them.

Understanding the Enforcement Strike System

Under this new system, each enforcement action will be associated with a “strike” based on the severity of the inappropriate activity. Xbox users who believe they have come across a violation of Xbox’s Community Standards are encouraged to report it promptly. The Xbox Safety team thoroughly evaluates these reports to determine the validity of the violation claims. Should a violation be confirmed, the player in question will receive an enforcement along with a corresponding strike.

The scale of strikes is directly linked to the severity of the actions. For instance, a player who accumulates 2 strikes will face a 1-day suspension from the platform. In comparison, a player amassing 4 strikes will undergo a more extensive 7-day suspension. The gravity of the situation increases further as players accumulate strikes. Individuals with 8 strikes will find themselves suspended from various Xbox social features – including messaging, parties, party chat, and multiplayer – for a substantial one-year period from the date of enforcement.

Transparency and Empowerment

Xbox believes in empowering its players with knowledge about their enforcement history and the implications of their actions. With the new enforcement strike system, every player will gain access to their enforcement history, including a detailed breakdown of strikes. This feature enables users to understand the severity of their enforcements and comprehend the cumulative effect of multiple violations.

Moreover, Xbox is dedicated to transparency in its operations. Data and updates related to this new system will be shared regularly through the bi-annual Transparency Report. This commitment underscores Xbox’s dedication to keeping players informed and involved in shaping the gaming environment.

A Look Ahead

As the enforcement strike system prepares to launch, the gaming community eagerly anticipates its impact. Alongside this update, Xbox offers a comprehensive FAQ section to address core questions about the new system. Additionally, a visual infographic has been prepared to visually guide players through the enforcement strike process. It’s that favourite time of our week when we share some of the best cosplay content the world has to offer.
