Recent Leak Says Pokémon GO Will Add New Generation

Recent datamines have revealed an exciting addition to Pokémon GO. The popular mobile AR game has continuously added new creatures to the game. They have been expanding the Pokédex to include all of the existing monsters from the original games. Now it looks like there is more in store.

Pokemon Go

Following the game’s most recent update, dataminers dove in to see what new secrets were hidden within the update. According to the PokeMiners, Hisuian Pokémon will be coming to the game sooner than we think.

According to this datamine, Hisuian Voltorb will be one of the first new creatures Niantic will add. They say it will likely debut next month as part of the Season of Heritage storyline. It is unclear if this will be the only Hisuian variation to come to the game, or if others from the series next game will make their way over.

Hisuian Pokémon are the new creatures that will make their debut in the highly anticipated Pokémon Legends: Arceus. While that game is due out on Switch later this month, it is unknown when these regional variants will appear in the mobile game.

While Pokémon GO is still short of the full list of 898 distinct Pokémon found in the original console series, we are getting closer to the full Pokédex. Which missing Pokémon GO would you like to see added next?

Call of Duty: Vanguard and Warzone Pacific Delay Next Season

Following a series of problems and bugs, Raven Software and Sledgehammer Hames have decided to delay Call of Duty: Vanguard and Warzone Pacific’s second season. The companies have decided to focus on incoming patches instead of continuing to build on a flawed game.

call of duty vanguard islamophobic content removed

However, players shouldn’t be too disappointed. The developers are only delaying the second season from February 2 to February 14. They didn’t share more info on what these quality of life improvements would entail, but they will surely make the games more stable.

There have been hints for general console stability fixes and weapon balancing to make the game as a whole a better experience for gamers. This won’t be the first update to fix some of the games’ issues. The issues resulted in a formal recognition on the series’ Twitter account today that the games’ multitude of issues.

We also know very little of what the companies meant to include in Season 2 of the games. There was likely going to be a more clear announcement next month, but that will likely be delayed as well. These issues are clearly bothering players and are significant enough to ruin the experience. So it’s probably a good decision to take one step back before they take two steps forward.

Dying Light 2’s Switch Version Pushed Back

Techland has been excitingly announcing more and more information about their sequel to Dying Light. The much-anticipated Dying Light 2: Stay Human is set for release on February 4. The build-up for this release culminated with the final episode of Dying 2 Know, the game’s documentary series, last week.

The developer even announced a commitment to keep adding content for five years once the game is released. There is certainly a lot for fans of the series to be excited for this year. However, there is now some unfortunate news for the series.

Dying Light 2

Dying Light 2: Stay Human will not be coming to the Nintendo Switch on February 4. Techland states that they want to ensure the Switch counterpart to the sequel is up to the quality they strive for. Therefore, it is probably for the best that the developer decided to delay this version.

The Switch version of the sequel was always quite interesting and different from the other versions. Techland had planned on releasing it as a special Cloud Version. Cloud Technology would power this version of Dying Light 2: Stay Human, exclusive to the Switch.

The Dying Light series first debuted on the Switch last year with Dying Light: Platinum Edition. Unfortunately, Switch players will now have to wait a little longer until the next entry in the series makes its way to Nintendo’s handheld. Dying Light 2: Stay Human will still make its debut on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S on February 4.

Datamine Reveals New Hawkeye, Green Goblin Fortnite Skins

Fortnite dataminers have been hard at work lately. Along with the usual leaks, two new ones have garnered a lot of interest. These are the new Marvel-based skins that will take advantage of the MCU’s most recent projects: Hawkeye and Spider-Man: No Way Home.

fortnite chapter 3 leaks

According to dataminers, Fortnite’s version 19.10 update has a couple of secrets up its sleeve. Firstly, the Battle Royale game will add a ton of skins and other cosmetics related to the Disney+ series, Haweye. Notably, there are two different skins. One is based on Clint Barton and the other is based on Kate Bishop. Other Hawkeye-inspired cosmetics include harvesting tools, back bling, and a new loading screen.

However, that isn’t the only Marvel-inspired cosmetic making its way to Fortnite. Spider-Man’s the Green Goblin will also be making his way onto the map soon. He will bring along some accessories as well. While the success of the most recent MCU Spider-Man film likely led to this crossover, his appearance is more similar to his classic comic book look.

The Green Goblin will appear in the game with his signature Pumpkin Bombs and Goblin Glider. There will also be a new loading screen, emote and a new Pumpkin P’axe.

While neither collaboration has been confirmed by Epic Games or Fortnite yet, these collaborations make a lot of sense. Following in the footsteps of Thanos’ reign over Fortnite’s map and several Spider-Man skins, these are just the newest collaborations between Epic Games and Marvel.

While it is likely these are accurate leaks, it remains to be seen when they will be introduced and how players can purchase or unlock them. Which new Marvel addition are you most excited for? Let us know in the comments below.

Fortnite’s Classic Industrial Area is Making a Return

Fans who have settled into the new map for Fortnite Chapter 3 should prepare themselves for an upcoming change. However, this change will be familiar to veteran players. The classic Tilted Towers will be making a return to the acclaimed Battle Royale game.

Speculation has been swirling lately about the return of Tilted Towers. According to a tweet this morning, the official Fortnite Twitter account has all but confirmed its return tomorrow. January 18 actually marks the fourth anniversary of the location’s introduction.

fortnite servers down

Tilted Towers first appeared in Chapter 1 Season 2. Since then, the section of the map has been changed, removed and brought back several times. So if you have played Fortnite at basically any point since it was originally released, you have likely snuck around Tilted Tower’s streets. The tall buildings placed tightly together make for great fighting action, both long-range and close combat.

What remains to be seen is any other detail than that. It is unclear where Tilted Towers will reappear in this new map. There is also a question about how it will look. Will it have a new redesign or will it return with a classic look? It is likely that it will be at least slightly remixed to suit Chapter 3’s map.

Luckily, it seems like players won’t have to wait very long for these questions to be answered. With Tilted Towers returning, what other locations would you like to see make a comeback?

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 May Just Be the First Delay

Following the official delay of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl, many were disappointed. The sequel has been a long time coming and has endured several cancellations. Fans of the original games will, unfortunately, have to wait a little longer, and they may not be the only ones having to wait.

Stalker

According to an insider, this delay is just the beginning. Danny O’Dwyer of Giant Bomb and No Clip Video believes there will be many games delayed this year. O’Dwyer says that most developers in the industry are still reeling from the pandemic.

The past year has caused companies to pivot and adjust to restrictions and other limitations to their usual development process. And unfortunately, the pandemic still has not gone away.

A lot of games that were scheduled to be released this year were unfortunately in the early stages of development when the pandemic first hit. So there was a lot of key time lost during the first few months of restrictions when all development effectively stopped.

For S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2, O’Dwyer believes the game will actually be delayed even further than December. However, he goes onto to say that a lot of the games meant to be released next month should be right on track. They were closer to release.

Cyberpunk 2077 May Get More Content Soon

According to the Cyberpunk 2077 subreddit, there looks to be an impending large update coming to the beleaguered game. One of Steam’s most-downloaded games of 2021 is due for a big update. This comes following the discovery of the game’s build on SteamDB.

cyberpunk 2077 very good game in the long run

This is actually the first time the build has been updated since October. This update could be for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X versions that CD Projekt Red said would debut in the first quarter of 2022.

However, there have also been a lot of rumors surrounding an update that will ship alongside these next-gen versions. What exactly that update will entail is unclear at the moment. Yet rumors say this will effectively be a soft relaunch of Cyberpunk 2077.

Given the multitude of issues the game presented since its launch in late 2020, this would make sense. According to recent leaks, this update may also include improved AI, rebalance the loot system, add barbershops and a garage to the game and more. There are also rumors of a new free DLC that brings new weapons, new game plus and new gigs.

While we still have no official word on all of this, it is clear CD Projekt Red has something planned. What would you like to see added to Cyberpunk 2077 this year? Sound ff in the comments below.

PUBG: Battlegrounds Developer Targets Apple, Google and Others

Krafton, the developer of PUBG: Battlegrounds, is suing Apple, Google, YouTube and Garena. Garena is the developer for the mobile games Free Fire and Free Fire Max that Krafton alleges infringes on their copyright.

Krafton apparently reached out to Garena last month, requesting they stop development of these games, but the mobile game company refused. So the PUBG developer decided to escalate the situation and take them to court.

PUBG

In addition, Krafton has named Apple and Gogle in the lawsuit as well. They are claiming the two tech giants are complicit in this copyright infringement, having done nothing to deter developers from ripping off established titles. YouTube is directly named as well as they host a number of Free Fire gameplay videos that promote the games.

While it is no secret that these mobiles store are filled with cheap knock-offs, Krafton is specifically calling out this developer. The company’s two games are free-to-play but feature micro transactions. So Krafton alleges these have made Garena hundreds of millions of dollars. The sticking point here is that Apple and Google get a cut of their mobile store revenue. Therefore, they are profiting directly off of Garena’s infringement.

As for the games themselves, they are very clearly similar to PUBG. They share similar aesthetics and gameplay. Moreover, Garena’s games even ripped off PUBG’s use of frying pans as melee weapons and armour.

It will be interesting to see how this lawsuit plays out. And if it will have a greater impact on the state of mobile gaming and mobile software stores going forward. Let us know your thoughts on the situation in the comments below.

Hitman 3’s Year 2 Will Let Agent 47 Freelance

This morning’s Hitman 3 Year 2 reveal steam was packed with a lot of exciting additions coming to the hit game. Clemens Koch, IO’s Community Manager, kicked off the announcements ahead of Year 2’s start next week.

Firstly, Koch introduced Elusive Target Arcade. Elusive Targets have long been a part of this Hitman trilogy. It would give players a limited time to take down a special target on one of the maps. However, players would only have one shot at doing so, not getting another chance even if they failed.

IO is taking the classic Elusive Target mode and bringing it back with a twist. This time, Elusive Target Arcade tasks players with taking down multiple targets. Players must take down one after another, never failing, and having to overcome increasingly difficult obstacles.

Successful players will gain exclusive rewards. Unsuccessful players will have to wait a full day before they are able to take the challenge again. This mode will be updated throughout the year with more challenges.

The other major news announced was Hitman Freelancer mode, coming in the spring. In this mode, players will begin in a safe house that players can customize rather than the location of their target. Here, players will monitor the world events themselves, choosing which criminal organizations they would like to take down via freelance contracts.

This adds a new very strategical side to the main game. While it incorporates the same maps in the original game, it will utilize them in new ways. Players will travel to different locations, all leading up to a final mission where they must take down the organization’s leader. This mode is full of a lot of new aspects that increase the original campaign mode’s difficulty.

IO is also bringing Hitman 3 to PSVR, Steam and Xbox Game Pass, giving players new options to play. Most of these updates, along with several technical improvements, will be available in Hitman 3 when Year 2 starts on January 20.

Check out the full reveal stream video for more details. Which new addition are you most excited about?

PlayStation Reveals 2021’s Top Games and GTA 5 Tops the List

PlayStation recently released their most-downloaded game for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, PlayStation VR and their top free-to-play titles. These lists are always interesting to review to gain some insight into the gaming community’s habits over the past year. Notably, Grand Theft Auto 5 was the most downloaded game on the PlayStation 4.

grand theft auto 5 remaster delay

GTA 5 tops the list of other top games for the PS4, retaining its popularity seven years after its original release. The past year again saw some new content coming to the popular action-adventure game. There were the usual festive updates and item additions. More recently, Rockstar Games added a brand new story mode in a new DLC featuring Dr. Dre. These additions along with the game’s online aspect have kept the game’s community thriving, even though they are still waiting for a PS5 release.

Interestingly, right behind GTA 5, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War outpaced the newer release in the franchise, Vanguard. Unsurprisingly, the ever-popular Minecraft slotted in at third as it too does not have a PS5 version.

The new PS5 saw NBA 2K22 dominate its charts, followed by Call of Duty: Vanguard and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. The Spider-Man game may have seen a spike in downloads thanks to the popularity of the newest Spider-Man movie.

As for PSVR, Beat Saber still reigns supreme, beating out other VR titles such as Job Simulator, Superhot VR and GORN.

Finally, the top free-to-play games should come as no surprise. PlayStation’s list includes Fortnite, Call of Duty: Warzone and Rocket League. These titles have dominated the free-to-play online competitive market for some time. And it does not look like they are going anywhere anytime soon.

Cross-Platform KungFu Kickball Blasts Onto Consoles

KungFu Kickball, the newest game from WhaleFood Games and Blowfish Studios, has a big announcement. The companies have announced their team-based sports platform fighter will officially release on February 10. So what is KungFu Kickball?

KungFu Kickball Art

KungFu Kickball combines the best aspects of a sports game with a platform fighter. To get players acquainted with this unique new sport, players will train with five martial art masters with specialized fighting styles across six different stages in a detailed training mode. Each stage presents its own unique obstacles as an arena for the kickball game.

Once they feel ready to go, players can pick one of eight playable characters including a Monk, an Assassin, an Old Master and a Drunken Boxer. They can strike, block or headbutt the ball towards the other player’s goal bell to score.

However, all of this alone wouldn’t make this game “kungfu”. Each player can also use special abilities as they try to score on their opponent. The game can be played offline or online, both in either 1v1 or 2v2 matches.

Want to get a taste of the action? Check out the intense action in the announcement trailer below.

The game first launched on Steam’s Early Acess last April, going through a few different early releases. Now KungFu Kickball is ready for its full release, giving everyone a chance to give the new sport a try.

KungFu Kickball is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC snd Mac on February 10. The game features full crossplay, so get your friends to join no matter their console of choice.

Which character will you pick when you try to conquer the KungFu Kickball world?

Cultures of Africa DLC Expands Humankind’s Universe

Following its release last year, Humankind drew a lot of comparisons with Sid Meier’s turn-based strategy games Civilization. It was even touted as a possible “Civ-killer“, directly competing with the Civilization games and improving on and expanding some of their aspects. Now, the game is back with its first major content update.

Humankind Cultures of Africa DLC

While Humankind shares many of the same characteristics as its historical strategy 4X counterpart, it does have some key differences. Mainly, it is Humankind’s focus on various cultures that have set it apart from others in the genre.

Rather than having players stick to one culture during their playthrough, players are encouraged to expand and pick new cultures. The game’s 60 featured cultures offer a wide variety of choices and ways to play the game.

The 4X strategy game is getting even deeper today thanks to the newest content release: the Cultures of Africa DLC. This DLC will add six African cultures to the game. These are the Bantu, Garamantes, Swahili, Maasai, Ethiopians and Nigerians. Each represents a different era and comes with its own set of strengths.

In addition to these new cultures, Amplitude Studios is bringing seven independent people and 15 narrative events to the game. Humankind is also adding new world wonders from Africa. These include Mount Kilimanjaro, Victoria Falls, Zuma Rock, Lake Natron and the Great Mosque of Djenné.

Therefore, the game’s first major update promises to add a lot for players to explore. The Cultures of Africa DLC will be available on January 20. How have you enjoyed your experience playing Humankind? Let us know in the comments below or on Twitter or Facebook.

Revisit Ezio’s Adventures in Assassin’s Creed Next Month

Today, the official Assassin’s Creed Twitter account announced an exciting release. The acclaimed Ezio Collection is coming to the Nintendo Switch on February 17. First rumoured last month, the collection is officially making its way to the Switch.

Ezio Collection feature

The collection was first released for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in 2016. It included the entire trilogy chronicling the life of Ezio Auditore da Firenze. Ezio is a key character in the Assassin’s Creed universe. His story is the basis of many future games, and these titles helped launch the franchise to its current popularity.

Ubisoft originally released Assassin’s Creed II, Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood and Assassin’s Creed: Revelations between 2009-2011. So it has been a while since these titles dominated sales charts.

A lot has happened since these games first debuted. Excluding spin-off releases, there have been eight titles in the main series released since Revelations. The most recent entry in the series, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla debut in 2020. The Ezio Collection is a great buy for players who are more recent fans of the series who missed these games’ original releases.

The Collection’s first release promised improved graphics but it under-delivered according to some critics. Yet while some of the gameplay mechanics may feel different from the more recent titles, the Ezio storyline remains one of the series’ best. It is also the basis of a lot of the franchise’s lore.

Moreover, this release still makes for a great buy as it includes every piece of single-player DLC for all three of the games. There are also two short films included in the collection: Lineage and Embers.

The collection is available for pre-order on the Nintendo Switch store today. If you have played these games, which early title is your favourite? Let us know in the comments below.

KOTOR Remake May Massively Change Gameplay

Last year, Aspyr announced they were developing an official remake of the acclaimed classic game, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. Aspyr intended to release the remake of the widely popular 2003 RPG on PlayStation 5 and PC. However, we haven’t seen much news since then — until today.

This has changed thanks to some new rumours courtesy of MrMattyPlays. On his YouTube channel, he mentions several things that we do know. This includes the game’s platforms and competing rumours surrounding the game’s writing, characters and main plot.

However, possibly the most interesting update to these rumours is that the remake will have a completely new combat style. The original KOTOR featured a real-time turn-based combat system. MrMattyPlays claims the remake will follow the lead of games like God of War and Nioh.

This rumour is supported by job listings for the game’s Lead Combat Designer and AI Engineer. The listings hint at creating a combat system that incorporates AI into new and immersive combat experiences.

Rumours state the game will take inspiration from God of War and Nioh. So while this is far from concrete, it is clear the remake will likely feature a different combat system from the original.

There have been countless Star Wars video games made over the years. Each one has been received with varying degrees of fanfare. However, none may have yet reached the status of the original KOTOR. To say the least, the community has waited a long time for an official KOTOR remake.

With all this pressure and anticipation, the Knights of the Old Republic remake will continue to garner a lot of coverage, so keep your eyes peeled. How excited are you for the KOTOR remake?

Capcom Teases Street Fighter’s 35th Anniversary https://cogconnected.com/2022/01/capcom-hints-at-street-fighters-35th-anniversary/ Mon, 10 Jan 2022 17:22:14 +0000 https://cogconnected.com/?p=298334 Capcom will celebrate Street Fighter's 35th anniversary this year, teasing some future developments to come.

What’s in Store for Street Fighter’s 35th Birthday?

35 years ago, Street Fighter made its debut in arcades across Japan. To commemorate an exciting milestone, The franchise’s Japanese Twitter account released some intriguing information. Alongside a new logo to celebrate the 35th anniversary, Capcom has teased the “future development” of Street Fighter. What this means exactly is unknown, but we can likely expect more information later this year.

The franchise’s 30th anniversary in 2017 saw a special release of its own. Capcom released the Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection, which featured all 12 arcade versions of the game. The Switch version also included an exclusive 13th version. Therefore, a similar anniversary collection may be in store for this birthday celebration.

However, only five years removed from the last collection may be too repetitive. With a significant anniversary this time around, Capcom is well-positioned to release more this time around to commemorate the series. The timing of the series’ latest game may also play a role.

Interestingly, the franchise’s most recent title Street Fighter V has seemingly wrapped up its content. Last year, the game’s final DLC character joined the fight. Capcom noted that this character Luke also represented the future of the franchise. This paves the way for a brand new entry in the series, likely centred around Luke.

So what this tease of “future development” exactly means could include a variety of things. What we do know is that Capcom wants to make this anniversary special, so fans of the experience should expect some exciting news later this year. What would you like to see most announced this year?

Take-Two Announces Acquisition of Mobile Publisher

Today, Take-Two Interactive, the company behind Rockstar Games and 2K, announced a new addition to their company. Take-Two will be purchasing all of Zynga’s outstanding shares for $9.86 per share. This values the mobile publisher at $12.7 billion in enterprise value.

Zynga is a well-known mobile game publisher, known for the FarmVille and Words With Friends series. Since their domination on Facebook, Zynga successfully moved to focus on mobile gaming. Therefore, this acquisition will immediately position the GTA-publisher as a major publisher in the mobile space.

Accoridng to Take-Two Interactive, this is the reason behind the acquisition. The company wants to capitalize on the continually-growing mobile gaming industry. This move will position their mobile game brand, T2 Mobile Games, under the Zynga brand.

Take-Two Interactive Logo

This news follows a long list of other major publishing companies making similar moves, buying up smaller companies. So Take-Two is able to join their competitors in expanding their industry reach.

In their announcement, the company also noted their intention to utilize its own intellectual property to create new mobile games based on their franchises. So we may just see new mobile versions of Grand Theft Auto, Red Dead Redemption, Borderlands or one of Take-Two’s other popular titles.

Notably, Take-Two Interactive purchased Zynga’s shares at a 64% premium. The move resulted in Zynga shares rising by 45%, while Take-Two’s shares dropped over 13%.

While this announcement was formally made today, the deal will not officially close until June 30. This also includes a provision where Zynga can shop around for a better purchase price for 45 days.

Gameplay of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order’s Sequel May Come Soon

We may finally have some more information about the long-awaited sequel to the acclaimed Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Rumours of this game date back to January 2020, before the pandemic threw everyone’s plans off track. However, Bespin Bulletin is back with some interesting updates.

Jedi Fallen Order

Bespin Bulletin is a well-known Star Wars insider. They have leaked a lot information ranging from Star Wars movies and TV series to video games. They are back in the new year with another update.

Firstly, according to Bespin Bulletin, footage for Fallen Order’s sequel is planned to be revealed at Star Wars Celebration 2022, beginning May 26. We may even see some sort of announcement earlier, with a reveal coming before E3 2022.

However, while they are still aiming for a fall 2022 release, this is subject to change. Especially considering the ever-changing pandemic restrictions that have already complicated development to this point. But there is still hope.

They go on to note how Lucasfilm and EA have often timed a video game release with a big live-action project. This dates back to the first Battelfront’s launch in November 2015. This theory reaffirms the belief that the new game’s release will happen alongside the rumoured release of The Mandalorian’s third season in late 2022.

Bespin Bulletin also suggests the Fallen Order sequel will not feature that name, gaining a new subtitle under the Star Wars Jedi moniker. However, it will feature returning characters with bigger roles. There will also be some existing Star Wars characters that will make their series debut. Unfortunately, they aren’t releasing any character names just yet.

In other Star Wars gaming news, the Star Wars insider also mentions LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga may unfortunately be hard-pressed to meet its spring release date. However, fans will be able to look forward to a Kinghts of the Old Republic remake sometime in 2023.

Let us know what you think about this new information in the comments below.
